Health Insurance Is Finally Here

If you do not already have health insurance, please click the link below to see what is available in the health insurance market place in Nevada.  The Affordable Care Act sets up a mechanism that allows uninsured individuals and businesses to buy health insurance.

Nevada Health Link

Starting October 1st people without health insurance will be able to buy it and at reasonable rates. There are also tax credit subsidies for many. Open enrollment will run between October 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014. Plans purchased through exchanges will not start until January 1, 2014. December 15th is the cutoff date if you want your plan to start January 1, 2014.

For non Nevada residents, Healthcare.gov will have the information you need.  First click the “Get Insurance” tab at the top of the page. It will take you to a page that will walk you through whatever marketplace is available to you. Some states have set up their own health exchanges and the federal government runs the rest. On that site, you can also compare the plans available in your area.

Nevadans with questions can use the following information:

Nevada Governor’s Office for Consumer Health Assistance
555 East Washington Ave, #4800
Las Vegas, NV 89101
(702) 486-3587
(888) 333-1597

Also those under a certain income are free. The site will let you know. I’m unemployed and I now have no monies coming in so I’m included in this. But the site wouldn’t let me put 0.00 so I have to put 1 cent as an income. On Oct 1st, I’ll just do a zero with no decimal point and see if that takes.
