State Employee Tax to be Approved Today

UPDATE: The committee backed a plan to cut  pay by 2.5 percent and require state employees to take six unpaid furlough days per year. Merit and longevity pay will be stopped for the next biennium.

This is still a State Employee Tax and unfair. It does not solve our budget problems in the long term. Nevada’s same lame taxing scheme lives on.

Today, at 8 am,  the legislative money committees will meet jointly and “discuss”  Sandoval’s proposed cuts to state employee salaries and close the budget on, ” Statewide Decision Units”.

This is the final step in imposing Sandoval’s, “State Employee Tax” which will balance the state’ budget on the backs of state employees while letting big businesses pay little. Think mining which pays nearly nothing on billions.

Agenda.       View meeting.

Let’s focus on the real problem: Red tape and kick backs.
