NV State Employees and Unions

Nevada state employees like any citizen can join an association, club, even a union and pay dues. That does not mean they have collective bargaining rights as some news and TV outlets have been implying of late.

For state employees, there are no negotiations or contracts regarding wages, benefits or work conditions. State employees get whatever the governor and legislature say they can have.

Collective bargaining rights only apply to local government employees such as teachers, firefighters and other county employees. Reference: “Local Government Employee-Management Relations Act” , or NRS 288.
