Sue Lowden Appointed to Nevada’s Medical Board

Jim Gibbons has decided to appoint Sue Lowden to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners replacing Van Heffner who resigned earlier this year. It appears Lowden will be the public representative on the Board which is common for all boards.

A governor may appoint who he wants so long as the person meets the qualifications in the statutes. Basically, the main qualifications are: you are friends of the  governor and don’t have a criminal history that would disqualify you.

Each member is paid not more than $150/day while engaged in Board business and are allowed per diem allowance and travel expenses.

BTW: I have worked with Van Hefner over the years and have the greatest respect for him.  Van V. Heffner, President and CEO, Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association
