More Budget Cut Scenarios

State agencies have been asked to provide scenarios where they would cut their budgets up to 10 percent.  Previously they were asked to prepare budgets reflecting 1.4 and 3 percent cuts.

If 3 percent was okay a couple weeks ago, why then is 10 percent better? The deficit projections still stand at about $60 million.

Either this new order is meant to generate fear for state employees or  the Budget Office doesn’t have a clue.

It is probably both.

It was said a year ago that the Budget Director couldn’t add a column of figures with a spreadsheet.  This might be an accurate statement. But to be Budget Director, you only have to know the governor to get appointed.
